Swimming pool waterproofing and tiling

Waterproofing and tiling of the Nõlvaku kindergarten swimming pool. The pool had previously been coated with polyurethane coatings, which had already been renewed and repaired 6 times, but the children still could not swim because the old coatings did not stay properly attached to the walls.

Our task was to remove all coatings down to the load-bearing concrete. During this work it turned out that a reaction had occurred between the different PU coatings, which is why some of the layers had not fully cured. Since the problem was already in the base layers, no subsequent renovation could produce a lasting result, and it was entirely logical that the PU coatings were coming off the walls.

After all PU layers had been removed, the floor and wall construction joints were injected to rule out moisture coming in from outside, and the concrete body of the pool was levelled with the concrete repair mortar BASF MasterEmaco S 5440 RS. To achieve complete certainty, two different waterproofing layers were installed in the pool. The first waterproofing layer, against negative water pressure, was applied with AQUAFIN 1K, and the second, against positive water pressure, with AQUAFIN-RS300. After the waterproofing had fully cured and a water test had been carried out, the entire pool was tiled using Unifix S3 tile adhesive.
