Waterproofing of a fire water tank – Combifood

Traveter Grupp waterproofed the floor and walls of an underground reinforced concrete fire water tank on the production site of Combifood OÜ. The aim of the works was to make the tank permanently watertight and to protect the concrete structure against the constant effects of water.

The works included:

  • roughening the entire substrate with a high-pressure washer (500 bar) to remove dirt and weak surface layers and ensure good adhesion;
  • levelling the substrate and installing sealing tape in the joints and corners;
  • applying the KÖSTER NB 4000 waterproofing coating in two layers at a consumption rate of 4.8 kg/m², over a total area of 169 m²;
  • replacing the tank float.

KÖSTER NB 4000 is a polymer-modified mineral waterproofing coating that is elastic and crack-bridging. It can be exposed to pressurised water just 24 hours after application and is well suited for waterproofing fire water tanks, sprinkler tanks and rainwater retention basins.
