Reconstruction of the screen channels at Tallinn Wastewater Treatment Plant

As a subcontractor to RVT Ehitus AS, Traveter Grupp carried out the concrete repair works on the screen channels in the screen building of Tallinn Wastewater Treatment Plant. The works were part of the public procurement “Reconstruction of the screen channels in the screen building of Tallinn Wastewater Treatment Plant” commissioned by AS Tallinna Vesi, with RVT Ehitus AS as the main contractor.

Our task was to restore and protect the concrete structures of six screen channels. In a wastewater environment, concrete is constantly exposed to moisture as well as chemical and mechanical loads, so the damaged concrete had to be removed, the structures restored and the surfaces covered with a durable protective coating.

The works included:

  • removal of loose concrete and concrete with insufficient compressive strength;
  • cleaning and roughening of the substrate;
  • cleaning of exposed reinforcement and corrosion protection;
  • restoring the original shape of the structures with concrete repair mortar;
  • application of Sikalastic 6100FX protective coating to all concrete surfaces;
  • grouting of the sluice gate guide rails.

The works started in January 2025 and were completed in September 2025. The restored and coated screen channels are now better protected against the effects of wastewater, extending the service life of the structures.
