Waterproofing for the new Nature House (Loodusmaja)
During the construction of the Nature House (Loodusmaja), Traveter Grupp OÜ carried out extensive waterproofing of the below-ground structures, external walls and roof slabs. The aim was to create durable, watertight waterproofing systems that protect the building’s load-bearing structures from ground water, precipitation and moisture and ensure the long-term reliability of the facility.
We waterproofed the external basement walls, installed waterproofing on the roof slab over the dock building entrance, and built an inverted roof with its waterproofing, thermal insulation and drainage layers. Before waterproofing, all concrete surfaces were prepared, corner fillets were formed, and structural joints and upstands were sealed. Thermal insulation and drainage membranes were installed over the waterproofing to protect and insulate the structures and drain water away efficiently.
We also waterproofed the external walls of the museum building, including watertight sealing of window and door openings, shafts and various structural joints. The project further included waterproofing the ramp floor and sealing nearly 150 ground anchors with a special acrylic resin and grout.
The Nature House is a good example of Traveter Grupp OÜ’s experience in delivering large-scale and technically complex waterproofing projects. On a single site, waterproofing of below-ground structures, inverted roofs, external walls and special details was combined into one integrated system that provides long-term protection and durability even under demanding service conditions.
